ABOUT RESTARTING THE HEART

Survival became a responsibility to build something useful.

Restarting The Heart is a survivor-founded ecosystem connecting lived experience, faith, education, publishing, community service, disability access, youth and athlete development, research questions, and responsible technology.

WHY RTH EXISTS

One survivor experience exposed several different gaps.

Founder Lawrence Terry survived a ventricular-fibrillation sudden cardiac arrest on May 2, 2018, followed by a five-day coma and a difficult recovery that included cardiac, neurological, emotional, cognitive, and practical challenges. His published book, Restarting The Heart, documents that survivor journey and the lessons that followed.

Recovery also raised questions that did not fit neatly into one category: how survivors find practical information; how families prepare for emergencies; how disability and communication barriers affect access; how children can learn preparedness safely; how athletes and students learn to handle pressure; how clinical observations and wearable data can be organized responsibly; and how unresolved neurocardiac questions can be studied without overstating the evidence.

ONE ECOSYSTEM · DISTINCT FUNCTIONS

RTH does not present every program, product, or idea as the same thing.

Restarting The Heart LLC

Commercial operations including publishing, educational products, merchandise, speaking, and responsible technology development.

Restarting The Heart Initiative

Community-impact work centered on preparedness, survivor and family support, disability access, youth education, partnerships, and service.

Neurocardiac Model™

An evidence-informed, hypothesis-generating framework examining stress-sensitive brain–autonomic–cardiac relationships. It is not presented as a diagnosis or treatment protocol.

SuperstarIQ

Technology in development for organizing longitudinal evidence, context, provenance, uncertainty, and communication. It is not a diagnostic product.

Superstar Standard™

A nine-pillar developmental philosophy and curriculum focused on self-leadership, pressure, purpose, resilience, recovery, service, transformation, adaptability, and responsibility.

Children, Books & Education

The Heart Hero Chronicles, Activity Companions, educator curriculum, survivor publishing, and practical resources translate RTH lessons into age-appropriate and audience-specific formats.

HOW RTH HANDLES EVIDENCE

Testimony, clinical documentation, research, and product development stay connected—but distinguishable.

RTH treats lived experience as valuable evidence of what a person experienced, not automatic proof of causation. Clinical records document observations and uncertainty. Published research establishes what is already supported in the literature. The Neurocardiac Model™ organizes a hypothesis for further study. SuperstarIQ represents a technology direction for organizing evidence—not a substitute for professional medical care.

This separation is intentional. The goal is to ask better questions, communicate clearly, build useful resources, and strengthen claims only when the evidence justifies them.
