Sometimes the goal is not to solve the entire problem. The goal is simply to interrupt escalation.
The RTH 2-Minute Reset is designed as a short awareness and self-regulation exercise for moments when stress or stimulation feels like it is building.
The basic sequence
1. Inhale gently for about four seconds.
2. Exhale slowly for about six seconds.
3. Relax your shoulders, jaw, and chest.
4. Reduce input. Look away from the screen, silence notifications, lower your gaze, or step into a quieter environment if possible.
The purpose is not to force calm or guarantee a physiological result. It is to create a small break in the pattern of continuous activation.
Why short resets are useful
People often wait until they are exhausted before responding to stress. A short reset creates an earlier option. It can be used before a difficult conversation, after a stressful meeting, between tasks, or when mental noise is increasing.
What it is not
A two-minute reset is not treatment for chest pain, breathing difficulty, a cardiac event, panic crisis, or any other medical emergency. It should never delay appropriate medical care.
RTH takeaway: You do not always need a complete solution in the moment. Sometimes you need two minutes of space.
